We open the festival with a “fiesta” for the ages. Toronto-based global music music and dance ensemble Ventanas kicks off the party, led by powerhouse flamenco singer and dancer Tamar Ilana. Ventanas performs original and traditional material in over 20 languages, weaving in and out of fiery flamenco dance and music, Greek, Turkish and Sephardic love songs, upbeat Bulgarian dance tunes, and lyrical original melodies, leading audiences through windows into other lands, times and cultures. Ventanas is joined by special guest flamenco dancer and longtime local favourite, Angela Déiseach.
